Dear friends, colleagues, brothers of the pen!
Today we truly possess the pen - the "camera-pen" - dreamed of by the founding fathers of the language of cinema, a language that brings visual-imagistic thinking to life. And just like poets who over millennia transcended the conceptual nature of the word to shape imagistic thinking, we too, by transcending the sign-based nature of the visible world, are capable of penetrating its essence, prompting the viewer toward its spiritual perception.
"Documentary", or more accurately, "non-fiction" cinema is perhaps the most difficult, yet most powerful genre of the art of film. Today it is more relevant than ever!.
Before our very eyes, the world is changing in every single one of its manifestations. Conceptual thinking itself is losing its footing. At the same time, the lion's share of information a person receives today comes in the form of visual images. How we present this image largely determines the future of humanity. Cinema has the power to hollow a person out by substituting real spiritual nourishment, or to elevate, strengthen, and fortify them spiritually.
Godspeed, knights of non-fiction cinema!
